We are accountants and tax advisors based in Medway. With 20+ years experience advising individuals and businesses about their tax position and ensuring they are tax efficient, there isn’t a lot we haven’t seen.

Why is tax important?

As much as many of us would like it not to, tax plays a massive part in our lives.  It affects every person and every company, and whilst it can’t be avoided, with the right planning in place every situation can be made as tax efficient as possible.   

Tax legislation, just like our lives, is constantly changing.  What was once a tax efficient approach can quickly switch to being inefficient through either a change in our lives or in the legislation.  This is why at Veritons we ensure we have close relationships with our clients and regular communication, to ensure the tax advice is timely and appropriate.

For those film fans that have seen The Accountant, it probably won’t come as a surprise that there isn’t an awful lot in the movie that relates to the life of an actual accountant, but there is one part that demonstrates the Veritons approach perfectly.  Ben Affleck’s character is the accountant who is in a meeting with a client talking about their tax liability and position.  The client makes what she thinks is an innocuous comment about a separate hobby business she runs from home, and on hearing this the accountants’ ears prick as he realises the tax efficiency opportunity this presents.  This perfectly demonstrates why Veritons approach is to be close to our clients.  Without that conversation, the accountant would never have learnt of the hobby business and the client would have carried on down an inefficient path.
